The House is one vote away from shaking America to its core.
See what’s inside the Epstein files before the next vote drops.
WASHINGTON — A dramatic moment is unfolding in Congress as the United States House of Representatives nears a potential floor vote that would force the release of the full case records related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The move has escalated tensions across party lines and could have far-reaching implications — including increased pressure on Donald Trump to step aside before year-end.
A bipartisan effort in the House has advanced to bring a resolution, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, to a floor vote. If a discharge petition secures 218 signatures, the measure would compel the release of all documents currently held by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and other agencies, relating to Epstein’s sex-trafficking investigation.
On July 23, a House subcommittee voted 8-2 to subpoena the DOJ for Epstein-related records. However, on the full House floor a separate attempt to force a vote was narrowly defeated, 211-210.
Transparency advocates argue that the files could reveal previously hidden connections, undisclosed allegations, or institutional failures in the Epstein case. Some GOP lawmakers have broken with leadership, signaling concern about the optics of blocking disclosure.
For Donald Trump, the stakes are particularly high. Some of the released records already include a so-called “birthday book” prepared by Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, which allegedly contains a letter signed “Donald J Trump” — a signature the former president denies. Should further documents tie Trump or his associates to the Epstein investigation, the political fallout could be immense.
