Taylor Swift joins Justin Bieber and Rihanna as music legends that have graced the Golden Globes red carpet

Taylor Swift has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the newly added Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Category for ‘”Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ which became the highest-grossing concert film of all time in the U.S. The singer/actress has been nominated four prior times for songs featured in movies. Swift, known for her fashion savvy, has always made an impact at the award shows that set the standard for every red carpet that follows.

What will she wear?

In the past, Taylor Swift has favored a fitted bodice with bare shoulders and a skirt without a slit – although in 2019, she made an exception while presenting with Idris Elba, choosing a sheer fitted Versace with a sensuous thigh slit. Her color choices have been bold, from bright buttercup yellow to green with gold floral patterns to solids in shocking pink and a strappy sheath in aubergine at the 2013 Golden Globes. With metallic overtones ruling many fashion weeks, one wonders if she will follow suit or strike out in a new direction this year.

The ‘Anti-Hero’ singer will not be the only musician anticipated to grace the Golden Globes 2024 red carpet. Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Ryan Gosling are the voices nominated for Best Original Song for the film Barbie. Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, and Jack Black have also been nominated separately in that category and join the clique of musical giants that have added sizzle to the glamorous Globes over the years as presenters and nominees.

Given the vast talent that has created the marvelous atmosphere that is the mystique of the award’s show during its 81-year history – including names like *Frank Sinatra and Donna Summer from the Golden Age of Hollywood to recent pop idols Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and of course, Rihanna – we thought we’d take a look back at some of the other pop icons that have graced the sizzling affair. (Not a complete list.)

Rihanna arrived at the sparkling soiree in 2023 wearing a floor-length Schiaparelli gown with a matching coat—the coat foreshadowed fashion week trends with voluminous sleeves and collar detail.

In 2011, Justin Bieber walked the carpet, still sporting his classic mop top. He chose a time-honored, tailored, three-piece tux by Dolce & Gabbana but paired it with a slim tie rather than the traditional bowtie. Retaining his rebel image, he finished the look with trainers over evening slippers or a traditional evening shoe.

Lady Gaga goes down in fashion history with her naked-shouldered Valentino Couture gown in periwinkle blue. The puff sleeves settled on her forearms, and the endless train ensured she stood out in a bubble of blue against the red carpet surrounded by the whose-who-of-Hollywood. It was rumored that Valentino’s creation was a nod to Judy Garland’s 1954 performance of the film A Star is Born, for which Gaga was nominated in 2019.
