In mid-2024, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend shared that their six-year-old son, Miles, had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis followed a serious bout of shigella infection that Miles contracted while attending summer camp. During treatment, doctors identified abnormalities in his blood work, prompting further investigation and ultimately leading to the discovery of his condition.

Teigen publicly thanked fans and the broader Type 1 diabetes community for their outpouring of support. She also expressed appreciation for Nick Jonas—who also lives with the condition—for his kindness to Miles during their encounter at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Now adjusting to life with Type 1 diabetes, the couple is learning to manage the daily demands of the condition, including insulin administration and constant blood sugar monitoring. Teigen has since partnered with Sanofi’s Screen For Type 1 initiative to promote early detection and awareness.
