Prediction claims Taylor Swift will beat Barbie and Oppenheimer to win her first Golden Globe on Sunday
It’s Swift’s first nomination for her own movie

Taylor Swift is poised to take the Golden Globes by storm as her Eras Tour film is tipped to beat both Barbie and Oppenheimer to win the trophy.

Swift has had an incredibly successful 2023, embarking on her record-breaking tour across the Americas, forming a relationship with Travis Kelce, launching her own movie and being voted as Time’s “Person of the Year”.

And now she could be set to begin 2024 in the same fashion by winning in the “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” group, a category added this year.

A lot of media outlets predict that Swift will take the prize, and MARCA in English agrees.

Can she beat Oppenheimer and Barbie?
It’s a very tall order for her to achieve. Barbie and Oppenheimer dominated the film discussion over the summer, even dubbed “Barbenheimer” with memes and fans creating a friendly rivalry, whilst others highlighted the juxtapositions of their stories and messages.

Combined, they grossed $2.396 billion dollars thanks to the leading performances of Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy, from a combined budget of $245m making them two of the most profitable films of recent times.

But Swift herself is a cultural phenomenon, as evidenced by her Eras Tour movie that broke the record for highest-grossing concert film of all-time as it made $250m dollars from a budget in the region of $20m.

It beat out second place by $150m and it even went on to become the 10th-highest grossing film of 2023 in the United States, despite being released in October, highlighting the success and popularity of the musician.

And critically, the category includes “Box Office Achievement”, giving her a solid chance of walking away with the prize because what she and her team did is exactly that.
