Kansas City Chiefs injury latest with positive Travis Kelce update for Christmas game after Patrick Mahomes’ admission

PATRICK Mahomes may not be able to share Christmas morning with his children, but he’ll have Travis Kelce with him.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback admitted he had mixed feelings about suiting up for a 1pm Christmas Day game.

Mahomes wanted to be able to spend Christmas Eve and the following morning with his wife and two children.

But instead he’s looking forward to pumping up the Arrowhead Stadium crowd for a clash with the Las Vegas Raiders.

And Mahomes will be able to count on his trusty tight end Travis Kelce after his scare last week.

Kelce suffered a nasty-looking elbow injury late in last week’s win over the New England Patriots.

Head coach Andy Reid called it a “stinger” and Kelce has popped up on the injury report this week.

But the good news for Mahomes and the Chiefs is he has been a full participant in practice all week and is set to play Monday.

The 9-5 Chiefs have struggled with injuries this year and have 14 players on the report for week 16.

Running back Jerick McKinnon has already been ruled out with a groin injury while a hip problem will keep Kadarius Toney out.

Isiah Pacheco is set to take the lead in the backfield again after his shoulder injury.

Wide receivers Mecole Hardman (thumb) and Rashee Rice (knee) are also listed.

And on the defensive side of the ball, Chris Jones (illness), L’Jarius Sneed (knee) and Justin Reid (knee) are also banged up.

Kansas City faces having to go on the road in the playoffs if they’re to make it back to the Super Bowl.

They’re two games back from the current AFC No 1 seed Baltimore Ravens with the Miami Dolphins No 2.
