Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has been nothing but supportive of the relationship between tight end Travis Kelce and pop sensation Taylor Swift, and he offered his support once again during a recent interview.
During a recent interview on the new “Scoop City” football broadcast from The Athletic, Andy Reid did not hold back as he made it very clear that he thinks Travis Kelce can handle the high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.
“I think it’s great for him. He can handle it,” Reid said. “As a matter of fact, I think he probably loves it to a point. I think there’s a great escape for him. I said that about Taylor, too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show. When he goes to her concerts, she’s the star. He can be hanging out there and be the support or the waterboy, so he can do that.”
Reid said that managing that fame “depends on the people involved,” but claimed that the two of them seem to be handling it very well – especially Kelce.
“She gets all that. He’s kind of grown into it. That podcast of theirs is ridiculous, so he’s gotten a lot of notoriety for that. He’s an outgoing guy. I mean, he comes into a room and he’s going to light the room up. Everybody’s his best friend. Until you prove him wrong, everybody’s a friend. He can handle it. It’s not something he’s been given that he can’t handle.”
As for whether or not it’s a distraction, Reid does not seem all that concerned about that.
“I grew up in Hollywood, so I’m OK with it as long as they’re ready to go,” Reid said. “Training camp is kind of that proving ground. If you’re not ready to go, it’s going to be obvious quickly.”
