Michelle Obama Addresses Ongoing Divorce Rumors: “Barack and I Are Doing Just Fine”
In response to persistent speculation surrounding her marriage, former First Lady Michelle Obama has publicly addressed rumors of a split from her husband, former President Barack Obama.
Speaking on NPR’s Wild Card podcast, Michelle candidly dismissed the claims as unfounded, attributing them to public misinterpretations of their private lifestyle.
> “Barack and I… we’re 60, y’all,” she said. “Just because people don’t see us out on dates or posting online doesn’t mean something’s wrong. We value privacy. We don’t share every moment on Instagram.”
Michelle emphasized that their decision to keep much of their relationship out of the spotlight is intentional—and not a sign of discord.
She also addressed her absence from recent high-profile events, including President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and former President Donald Trump’s inauguration. These, she explained, were personal choices rooted in self-care and reflection, not due to any marital strain.
> “People often mistake discretion for distance. But for us, choosing what we engage in publicly is about protecting our peace—not avoiding each other,” she added.
The Obamas, married since 1992, have consistently maintained a united public image, and Michelle’s latest comments reaffirm their ongoing commitment to each other amid increased media scrutiny.
