Despite receiving multiple criminal indictments in 2023, Donald Trump thinks he should have been awarded Time’s Person of the Year.
The magazine instead gave the honor to 34-year-old singer/songwriter Taylor Swift for “shooting art and commerce together to release an energy of historic force.”
But the former U.S. President does not agree with that decision and has shared an article that argues that he should have received the accolade.
Trump posted the DC Enquirer article to his Truth Social platform on Tuesday. It’s written by Reed Cooper, “a 19-year-old die hard supporter” of Trump, according to his bio.
Cooper argued it was a mistake to give the award to the “left-wing singer” and Trump was a more deserving recipient because “he has been successful at quite literally everything he’s ever tried throughout his life.”
The writer pointed to moves Trump made as president on human trafficking, investigating “big pharma” over the alleged rise in chronic illness, his work on the economy and for being “a president of peace.”
Swift was awarded the Time Person of the Year, for her remarkable 2023 that included a record-breaking world tour, concert movie that smashed box office records and single-handedly lifting the U.S. economy, according to the Federal Reserve.
“In the 17 years since her debut, Swift has notched more No. 1 albums than any other woman in history. This year alone she had three,” wrote Time’s editor-in-chief, Sam Jacobs. “She was everywhere in 2023, filling stadiums and breaking records, which meant we were forced to find novel ways to measure the magnitude of her reach.”
Jacobs added: “As Swift reportedly became a billionaire, countries’ gross domestic products became the yardstick for her financial contributions. University classes to study Swift’s lessons in literature, business, and law were announced. Swift was showered with keys to cities and street signs changed to her name.”

He faces a total of 91 felony charges, including election interference, fraud, paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels and mishandling of sensitive government documents.
Trump has also been sued for defamation by retired journalist E. Jean Carroll who originally received $5 million after a court ruled he had sexually assaulted her in the mid-1990s and then defamed her character after she brought a case against him.
After losing the case, Trump allegedly made further comments about her, and she is suing him for defamation again. Carroll’s second defamation trial opens on January 16.
