Rihanna Stuns in Custom Chanel at Smurfs Premiere in Brussels
At the Belgian premiere of Smurfs on Saturday, June 28, Rihanna captivated attendees with a show-stopping look from Chanel, perfectly tailored for the occasion. The pop icon and entrepreneur, who is currently expecting her second child, arrived in a breathtaking celadon green silk chiffon ensemble, custom-made by the iconic French fashion house.
The two-piece design—a flowing top and matching skirt—was sheer around the midriff to highlight her baby bump and adorned with delicate embroidery of crystals, porcelain sequins, and feathers. The couture creation reportedly required an astounding 840 hours of handwork to complete and drew direct inspiration from Chanel’s Spring 2003 haute couture collection.
Vogue’s original review of that season’s collection praised its ethereal quality and craftsmanship:
> “The fondant colors—palest pink, peach and blue—the overlays of black lace and the scatterings of silver sequins made every piece a vision of femininity… crafted with such deftness and sweetness of color that even the house tweed evaporated into sparkling nothingness at the edges.” — Sarah Mower, Vogue
Rihanna’s ensemble serves as a graceful homage to that same vision—dreamlike, delicate, and unapologetically luxurious.
The singer was accompanied by her partner, rapper and fashion entrepreneur A$AP Rocky. Their Brussels appearance follows a series of high-fashion moments across Europe. Just a day prior, the couple was seen in Paris attending Jonathan Anderson’s menswear debut for Dior. Rihanna wore a crisp white shirt under a pistachio green waistcoat, while A$AP Rocky sported a bold Dior tie featuring red, green, and royal blue stripes.
Following the fashion festivities, the couple made their way to the Smurfs premiere, where Rihanna voices the character of Smurfette in the upcoming film. Whether Brussels marks the final stop on their style tour remains to be seen—but fashion watchers and paparazzi alike will no doubt be keeping a close eye on what comes next.
