Kim Kardashian: One Step Closer to Becoming a Lawyer
Reality star, business mogul, and even “Fairy Buttmother”—Kim Kardashian has worn many hats. Now, she’s on the verge of adding another prestigious title: lawyer.
Taking the Next Big Step
Kim recently took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE), a crucial milestone for anyone aiming to practice law in California. According to the National Conference of Bar Examiners, this two-hour test assesses knowledge of professional conduct standards before candidates can attempt the bar exam.
While Kim hasn’t tackled the bar exam yet, she successfully passed the “baby bar” in 2021—after three failed attempts. Reflecting on the challenge, she shared on Instagram, “For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me. I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years, but I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!!”
A Passion for Justice
Kim’s dedication to law isn’t new. She has actively lobbied for prison reform, advocating for clemency petitions, personally funding legal bills, and working closely with legislators. Her 2020 documentary, Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project, highlighted her commitment to justice, chronicling the early release of four incarcerated individuals.
Recently, she has championed the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez, two brothers convicted of murdering their parents in 1989. In an essay for NBC News, Kim detailed their trials, making a case for their release.
A Future in Law Over Reality TV?
Despite her continued presence on Hulu’s The Kardashians, Kim has hinted at a major career shift. At the TIME100 Summit in 2023, she stated, “I would be just as happy being an attorney full time. The journey just really opened up my eyes so much. It gets overwhelming because there’s so much to be done.”
Following in Her Father’s Footsteps
Kim’s legal aspirations pay tribute to her late father, Robert Kardashian, a renowned defense attorney best known for representing O.J. Simpson in his 1995 murder trial. “I know my dad would be so proud,” Kim said. “He would have been my best study partner, even though he was known for making fun of those who didn’t pass on the first try. But he would have been my biggest cheerleader!”
Despite her $1.7 billion net worth, Kim recently failed to purchase a Bible once owned by her father. The book, which Robert Kardashian gifted to O.J. Simpson, was auctioned for $80,276 on the Goldin website.
