Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a stunning prediction regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming the leader’s deteriorating health will lead to his imminent death.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Zelenskyy urged the United States not to reintegrate Russia into the global political sphere, as peace talks continue to address the war in Ukraine.

> “He will die soon, that is a fact, and everything will be over,” Zelenskyy stated in an interview with Eurovision News in Paris, as translated by the Kyiv Independent.

According to Zelenskyy, Putin hopes to remain in power until his death and is actively seeking a direct confrontation with the West.

Speculation on Putin’s Health Intensifies

Rumors surrounding Putin’s declining health have circulated for years, intensifying since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin, however, has repeatedly dismissed reports of Putin’s alleged illness, providing no concrete evidence to counter or confirm such claims.

In October, images surfaced showing intravenous (IV) marks on Putin’s hands during a meeting with soldiers, fueling speculation that he might be undergoing cancer treatment. Additional unconfirmed reports have linked Putin to strokes and Parkinson’s disease.

Russia and Ukraine Agree to Black Sea Ceasefire

Zelenskyy’s remarks come amid diplomatic efforts between Russia and Ukraine, which resulted in an agreement on a ceasefire regarding attacks on energy infrastructure and hostilities in the Black Sea following discussions with Trump administration officials in Saudi Arabia.

However, the Kremlin has stated that a full Black Sea ceasefire will only take effect if Western sanctions on Russia’s Rosselkhozbank—a key financial institution for agriculture firms—are lifted, and if access to the international banking system is restored, according to Reuters.

Zelenskyy Meets Macron to Strengthen Military Support

On Thursday, Zelenskyy met with French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of a Paris summit involving 30 nations, aimed at strengthening Kyiv’s military capabilities and securing a ceasefire with Russia. Discussions also included proposals to deploy European troops in coordination with any potential peace deal.

Putin, who has been Russia’s president since 2012, previously held the position from 2000 to 2008 and has also served as prime minister in two separate terms. A former KGB intelligence officer, he remains a central figure in global geopolitics amid ongoing tensions between Russia and the West.
